Stripped.  Layer by layer.  Laid bare: wood, dirt, bones; impulse, intention, motivation.

All dust.

And yet … this dust that I am is animated, by breath, spirit, ruach.

And the dust to which I shall return was once a star blazing bright.

This self-examination is not for list-making, for finding faults one, two, three, and more.

This is self-examination with an eye to repentance.

This is self-examination to find God’s call in the unsought, unwelcome, and unwanted places in our world, our lives, our hearts.

This is trusting the love of God to raise us up from that bare dirt into glory.
