Out of the darkness

Snowdrops

Out of the mulch of our lives
God sends new hope
Out of death and decay
God sends life
Out of the darkness
God sends light
Whilst on the Clergy Retreat last week at Whitchester in the Borders I came across a field full of snowdrops. It was not a pretty field of wholesome green grass, but a field of decaying leaves and dead branches. Yet even out of such dirt and mess and chaos there were signs of beauty and hope.

How can they fail to lift our spirits in these dark days?

  1. Flowers from bulbs always seem a miracle to me, like all new growth I suppose, but somehow especially out of the depths of Winter.
    Nice words Ruth.
